What is strong authentication?
Strong authentication refers to systems that require multiple factors for authentication and use advanced technology, such as one-time passwords or digital certificates, to verify a user's identity.

A common example of multi-factor authentication is your ATM card or bank card. This requires something you have (your card), and something you know (your PIN). You wouldn't want your bank to allow access to your account with just one factor. Yet many of your valuable network resources can be accessed with one weak authentication item--a password!
