PKI user authentication is supported by SafeWord® PremierAccess®
PKI stands for "Public Key Infrastructure". PKI is based on "public key" or "assymetric" cryptography. Using this technique, two encryption keys are generated (known as a "public" and "private" key). When the message is encrypted with one key, it can only be decrypted with the other. Thus, you can send a message to someone by encrypting with their public key. Only the recipient can decode the message with the private key.
Secure Computing SafeWord® PremierAccess® has embedded support for PKI user authentication, including digital certificates, smart cards and USB devices. Without any additional PKI software, PremierAccess can issue standards-based X.509 digital certificates for user authentication, or authenticate certificates from most major PKI vendors, including VeriSign, Entrust, Baltimore, Microsoft, and Netscape. A wide variety of PKI-ready smart cards and USB tokens are supported, including those from ActivCard, Datakey, Gemplus, Schlumberger, Rainbow, Aladdin, and other vendors.
Best of all, when you're ready to roll out a complete PKI solution, you won't have to buy new authentication products or purchase additional PKI features--all the PKI user authentication you need comes with PremierAccess today.
